windy labor day

Here we are again entering the holiday season, beginning with today and running directly into the major holiday season. Halloween, thanksgiving and of course everybody’s favorite Christmas. With the soon to be spending season coming right around the corner at this time of year. It’s time to really get your budget and financial house decorated and ready for the holidays.

Think of it labor in it’s self means work, we are honoring the workers of this great nation who have kept America’s industry moving forward at the speed of sound and light. We honor this day with lots of ice cold beer and flaming barbecues, sizzling steaks, hot dogs and chicken.

Have you ever wanted to know the true meaning of Labor Day? From wikipedia…”The holiday originated in Canada out of labor disputes (”Nine-Hour Movement”) first in Hamilton, then in Toronto, Canada in the 1870s, which resulted in a Trade Union Act which legalized and protected union activity in 1872 in Canada. The parades held in support of the Nine-Hour Movement and the printers’ strike led to an annual celebration in Canada. In 1882, American labor leader Peter J. McGuire witnessed one of these labor festivals in Toronto. Inspired from Canadian events in Toronto, he returned to New York and organized the first American “labor day” on September 5 of the same year.[citation needed]

The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City.[1] In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the US military and US Marshals during the 1894 Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.

[2] Cleveland was also concerned that aligning a US labor holiday with existing international May Day celebrations would stir up negative emotions linked to the Haymarket Affair.[3] All 50 U.S. states have made Labor Day a state holiday.” read article here…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_Day

Far to many sacrifices have been made and opinions created for the structure of work day we obied by everyday. So why is it that people work so hard to create a movement and yet they still sit by and let life pass them by? So many people have made choices that led them to a place where their finances are in detrimental condition.

Since we all have a choice to make on this Labor Day weekend to round out the last quarter of the year I suggest that we all take a few minutes to come up with a plan of action that will help us labor through all the challenges that we have created in our own lives. I know for sure that we can win this battle of the financial crisis and come out ahead and end up as the winner over circumstance.

I strive to encourage people to embrace the concept of wealth and to embrace the power of good financial management. If you don’t ingrain these rules in your daily activities you will wind up with major financial challenges down the road.
