It’s an outrage what we as consumers are being offered today. Not only are we in weak economic standards. Our savings and deposit records are at an all time low. It’s no wonder when our choices offered to us for growing wealth are all in favor of the bank or institution.

Rarely do we run across a vehicle that provides us with a substancial return on our original investment. Also the overall performance over the long term is usually subjected to volatility of the market place.

You need to weigh your options before making a choice  on your path to creating wealth. Having the basic questions and formula to calculate your decisions is essential to the survival of your principle capital.

Simply put you need to perform an evaluation on your self and the investment vehicles you choose.

Ask yourself these simple questions…

1. Why am I looking to invest my monies?

  • Retirement
  • College
  • Leaving  beneficiaries a legacy
  • Growing wealth
  • I have excess money and I need to park it somewhere.

2. How long will I need to keep them invested.

  • Again what the timeline of your financial goal
  • How much will you need to comfortably maintain your current lifestyle?

3. When I reach my financial goal what will I do with the proceeds?

4. Is this the best course of action for my needs?

After you have weighed the pros and the cons you need to consider time. I would like to take a moment to assist you with this…have you ever heard of the “Rule of 72 “? This si one mathematical formula to determine how many years it will take your money to double at your current or considered rate of return.

For example if you took the number 72 and divided it by your current ROI you would get X. X = years to double.

If your ROI is 5% per year the formula would equate to this 72/5%=14.4 Not looking so good now is it.
