Stock market performance causes concern – new options sought
As the current trend in the stock market continues to concern investors and watchers; and with the dillemmas of the sub prime mortgage market debacle and falling value of the dollar, many investors are individuals are becoming dissatisfied with the security and return that the stock market provides. More and more people are beginning to take a careful look at alternative short and long appreciation strategies.
If you track current market conditions the similarities between the current market conditions are very similar to the economic conditions of the great depression. With the dollar trading value at near frenzied levels many indicators suggest that a major market change will be the cause of significant losses for investors too small to weather such a large market adjustment.
As market conditions become more unstable other optionsbecome more appealing. Land banking is such an option. Simply put land banking is the investmenyt in pre-developed property that allows for future growth. It’s not a fund that relies on management so it is very cost effective to run and it provides a historically steady and consistant growth that is suprisingly attractive in terms of return on investment.
Land banking is an option for small business. Small business investors cast a weary eye on the stock market’s wild fluctuations and questionable yield. The number one reason for 401k or IRA investment by small business is to secure retirement for business owners and employees.
The enactment of IRS code 408 allows investors to diversify their retirement plans (self directed). By allowing plans directors to diversify away from the stock market and direct into alternatives such as land banking,many smaller businesses can find greater security and even greater return on their retirement dollars.
Location is key purchasing land in a major growth path of a metropolitan area can really make a difference to future value. Of course there isn’t much of this type of land available anymore, finding a professional that can help in the search is going to be key to the success and profitability of such a venture.
